Juvenile arrested in connection with weekend shooting of 14 Year Old

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) – Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Desmond Marquise Cromer on Tuesday (2/27).

Lott says Cromer has been charged with murder, attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

At approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday (2/25) on St. Andrews Rd. Cromer allegedly shot and killed a 14 year-old male, identified by the coroner as Tiquan Taylor and shot a 15 year-old male.

Deputies say Cromer had made arrangements to purchase a gaming device and a short struggle ensued when he attempted to rob the teens.  He then shot both victims, say deputies. One was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, and the other remains in serious condition.

Lott expressed his frustration saying it is a senseless crime that affected the lives of too many.

Cromer is being charged as an adult and has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
