Teen charged for bringing weapon and drugs to school

Irmo, SC (WOLO) — A teenage Irmo Middle School student is facing some serious charges after authorities say he brought an airsoft gun and marijuana to school Tuesday morning.

Lexington County Deputies say an administrator was informed the 14 year old student may have a gun and drugs on hi, but when confronted by the Assistant Principle, authorities say the teen fled the campus.

Deputies say the teen was taken into custody a short time later after he was spotted in a nearby wooded area. A school resource officer searched the student’s backpack and discovered the unloaded airsoft gun and a small amount of marijuana.

the 14 year old has been released to the care of his mother and is expected to appear in Lexington County Family Court.
