COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–Hundreds are gathering at the South Carolina State House Monday to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The annual ‘King Day at the Dome’ event draws crowds and politicians to Columbia each year.
The event starts with a prayer service and culminates with a march to the State House and a rally,.
On Monday, the event also drew candidates who are thinking about a potential Presidential run.
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders took to the podium to talk about the significance of MLK day. Sanders spoke to the crowd at the South Carolina State House about racial justice, equality and education, among other topics.
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker also spoke to the crowd about the significance of MLK Day. Booker delivered a speech touching on topics including healthcare.
Booker is thinking of a run for the White House in 2020.
