County approves $150K for Allen Benedict residents

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)–  Richland County says it is aiding in the effort to help the more than 400 residents displaced after two deaths and multiple gas leaks were discovered at Allen Benedict Court apartments.

Monday morning the county council announced it has approved $150,000 to “enhance the efforts of social service agencies” working to find homes and get aid to those who were evacuated.

The council unanimously approved the funding at its February, 5th meeting.

As to how that money will be distributed a spokesperson for the council says An implementation plan is being developed by staff for Council approval before the funding is provided.  It is expected a plan will be presented to Council when it meets Feb. 19.
