Columbia Police detain male in connection with Greene St Arson, properties owned by SC Governor

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Columbia Police announced they, along with Columbia Fire Investigators and SLED, have arrested 21 year old Frank John Wilberding in connection with the Greene Street fire Tuesday morning. According to Columbia Police, Wilberding was taken into custody just before noon at the intersection of Greene and Laurel streets, Tuesday May, 14th, 2019.
Authorities say Wilberding has been charged with two counts of second degree arson and possession of Xanax, a schedule IV substance. At this point authorities believe Wilberding acted alone and are not searching for anyone else in the alleged crime. Wilberding is being transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Authorities say a motive in the crime has yet to be determined.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Authorities are investigating two house fires Tuesday morning, as arson.
Columbia Fire officials say the fire happened in the 17-hundred block of Greene Street around 6:30 Tuesday morning.
According to Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins both properties are owned by Governor Henry McMaster.
Firefighters say at least 12 people are displaced, but no one was hurt.
The Columbia Police Department has released this photo of the suspect.
He’s described as a slender white male with brown hair.
Chief Jenkins says multiple agencies will be involved in the investigation, including Columbia Fire, Columbia Police and SLED
Officials say the fire caused an estimated 450 thousand dollars in damages.
