Members of SC National Guard deploy to the Middle East

NEWBERRY, SC (WOLO) — Around 100 of South Carolina’s bravest are on their way to the Middle East.

Friday afternoon members of the South Carolina National Guard gathered in the gym at Newberry College before being deployed to join Operation Spartan Shield.

The Guard says the soldiers will be in the Middle East for about nine months.
