Audit of Charleston Police Dept. finds ‘racial disparities, uses of force’

Charleston, SC (AP) — An audit of the Charleston Police Department found ‘racial disparities’ in traffic stops and ‘uses of force’.

Auditors hired by the city council in December say African Americans were involved in 61 percent of cases involving the use of force. Charleston’s Police Chief says the audit is a step toward overall improvement.
