RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies say they have arrested a woman accused of hitting a pregnant woman and another woman on Berkshire Drive Thursday.
Authorities say Candace Nelson, 40, faces three attempted murder charges, as the third charge relates to the pregnant woman’s unborn child.
According to investigators, Nelson was having a verbal argument with the pregnant victim, which escalated into Nelson attempting to run her over.
Deputies say while she was charging her vehicle in the pregnant woman’s direction, Nelson ran over her own acquaintance and hit the pregnant victim.
Authorities say both women were taken to a local hospital.
Nelson was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
