State officials recognize April as the Month of the Military Child

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– State officials have recognized the month of April as the Month of the Military Child. It’s a chance to celebrate children all across the nation who make sacrifices and overcome many challenges.

Members of the South Carolina National Guard joined the governor at the Statehouse in his proclamation reading Wednesday.

Many military children deal with deployments and moving every couple of years, changing schools and sometimes the loss of a parent. Recognizing April as the Month of the Military Child first began in 1986.
