Gov. McMaster issues executive order preventing unaccompanied minors at southern border being placed in SC
On Monday, Governor Henry McMaster issued an executive order that directs the South Carolina Department of Social Services to prevent the federal government from placing unaccompanied migrant minors from the U.S. southern border in South Carolina.
Friday, Governor Henry McMaster is visiting South Carolina National Guard soldiers serving on the southern border in Texas. During the governor’s visit, he’s expected to receive in-person briefings from senior military leadership in charge of federal efforts to secure the southern border.
Tuesday night, the University of South Carolina’s biggest donor ended her association with the university after it failed to acknowledge her mother’s passing. In a letter to the Board of Trustees, which was obtained by the Post and Courier, Moore stated, “the deepest regret of my life is the effort and resources I have expended on your behalf.”
Governor Henry McMaster named the next director of the Department of Health and Human Services. Wednesday afternoon, the governor announced Robert Kerr will take over the position he previously held between 2003-2007. Prior to that he was employed by the agency for more than 20 years.
