Vance man charged with attempted murder following shooting incident on Thursday. 

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Orangeburg County deputies say a Vance man has been charged, following a shooting incident that occurred Thursday. According to authorities, Henry Bryant, IV has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

“We initially received a call from a medical professional who said he had gotten a call from a person in Vance,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “This medical professional said the caller stated he had fired on a passing car and needed help.”

Deputies say they were originally called to conduct a welfare check at Bryant’s home around 1 p.m. Thursday. Deputies say they also received a call from a motorist who said that a man with a rifle had shot at her. Officials say no one was injured during the incident.

Authorities say they set up a perimeter around the Peach Orchard Street home, but the suspect had already fled to the Lowcountry to seek medical attention.
