DHEC expanding Vaccination Homebound Project to all 46 counties in the state
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– On Wednesday, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced that they will expand their Vaccination Homebound Project to all 46 counties in the state. The move comes in an effort to provide vaccinations to rural and underserved communities throughout South Carolina. Officials say the program allows them to reach homebound individuals who may have trouble seeing a doctor.
“We are incredibly excited to offer this service to the homebound members of our state,” said Dr. Brannon Traxler, Public Health Director. “Reaching herd immunity means removing any and all barriers between people and these life-saving vaccines. Our homebound program will help us accomplish that goal by bringing this opportunity to front doors across South Carolina.”
DHEC says they are working with Welcome Pharmacy and H&M Labs to provide the free vaccine program, which runs through the end of the year.
If you want to schedule an appointment through this project, call DHEC’s Vaccine Information Line at 866-365-8110.
The Vaccination Homebound Project was started back in February in order to help vaccinate residents in Jasper and Hampton counties.
