A.C. Flora’s Jackson Price named Gatorade South Carolina Boys Soccer Player of the Year
A.C. Flora High School soccer star Jackson Price has been named Gatorade South Carolina Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Jackson as South Carolina’s best high school boys soccer player. As the state winner, he is now a finalist for the prestigious national award to be announced later this summer. The Gatorade awards recognize state winners in 12 sports.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected as the 2021 recipient of this prestigious award,” said Price. “As a state winner I am now part of a 35+-year legacy that includes past winners such as Peyton Manning, Sydney McLaughlin, Derek Jeter, Karl-Anthony Towns, Elena Delle Donne, and many other sports icons.”
Price, a 5-foot-11-inch, 155-pound junior midfielder, scored 23 goals and passed for seven assists this past season, leading the Falcons (14-3-1) to the Class 4A quarterfinals. He is a two-time All-State honoree and was named the Region Player of the Year. He has recorded 50 goals and 25 assists in his prep career. In addition to being class president, Jackson has volunteered with the March of Dimes, Families Helping Families, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the Harvest Hope Food Bank. He has maintained a 4.0 GPA and will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
“We are extremely proud of everything that Jackson has done on and off the field,” said Flora Head Soccer Coach David Schroer. “He obviously has immense soccer talent, but he exemplifies the term ‘student-athlete’ with his focus on academics and commitment to service. We would like to thank Gatorade for their consideration and recognition as well as everyone who has helped, and will continue to help, Jackson along his journey.”
