Students return to Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS with heightened safety measures
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Students at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School went back to class today, after last week’s shooting that injured three.
Officials say all students must be cleared through a metal detector and a bag check upon entering the school. Beginning Tuesday, clear book bags will be required. Officials say these will be provided for students. Additional bags for athletics or personal hygiene will be searched, according to the school district.
Deputies say a 14-year-old suspect is charged with three counts of assault and battery with intent to kill. Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says others may be involved in the shooting.
