Former Kershaw County deputy charged after police respond to incident involving ex-wife

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office says a former deputy has been arrested and charged after the Camden Police Department responded to an altercation he had with his ex-wife. According to investigators, former deputy Cody Blackmon’s ex-wife says he assaulted her on Thursday, April 14.

Authorities say they requested an investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and he was suspended from the sheriff’s office the night of the incident. He was required to turn in all his equipment from the sheriff’s office the following day.

Officials say Blackmon resigned after a meeting was help with him at the completion of SLED’s investigation.

As a result of the investigation, authorities say Blackmon is charged with domestic violence second degree. He was booked at the Kershaw County Detention Center.
