U.S. facing shortage of contrast dye used in some X-ray, MRI and CT scan procedures

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– U.S. hospitals are facing a shortage of contrast dye used in some X-ray, MRI and CT scans, since the Chinese factory that produces it was shut down for weeks.

ABC Columbia reached out locally to find out if hospitals in South Carolina are also seeing the same limited supply. Prisma Health responded, saying in part, “Prisma Health has taken actions in response to this shortage to ensure our services best match patient needs.”
