COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)—As we get ready to gather with family and friends for the upcoming holidays, health experts continue to encourage flu and Covid shots, amid what they are calling a “triple-demic.”

The CDC says they’ve seen a spike in flu cases since Thanksgiving and South Carolina is seeing one of the most active flu seasons in recent years, with 100 times more flu cases reported so far this season.

Overall, the flu has sickened more than 13 million Americans and has led to 120,000 hospitalizations and 7,300 deaths.

Cases of Covid-19 are on the rise too. DHEC reported 6,046 new cases from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3 in South Carolina, which is an increase of more than 3,000 cases from the week before.
