Governor McMaster signs parental leave bill into law
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— Governor McMaster has signed a law that gives public school employees, including teachers, paid time off for the birth of a child or an adoption.
The Palmetto State Teachers Association says South Carolina is now the first state in the southeast to offer up to six weeks of paid parental leave for public school employees.
The bill goes into effect June 26.
