ON THE ROAD: Greenwood

GREENWOOD, SC (WOLO) — All across South Carolina flowers are in bloom.

To see some interesting floral displays as well as have a good time at a unique festival, you might want to go on a day trip to Greenwood this weekend.

Originally from Greenwood and having lived in the town for many years, Ellesor Holder has seen a lot happen in the city of around 23,000 residents.

Locals also say this might be one of the best times to visit Greenwood with the South Carolina Festival of Flowers in town.

The festival began in 1968 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Park Seed Company. In recent years… the signature of the event has become the topiaries put up around town by the city’s horticulture department.

Check out this week’s ‘On the Road’ for more from the festival. Tune in every Friday this summer to ABC Columbia News at 11 for new episodes.
