American Airlines to charge some to check bags

COLUMBIA, S.C. (CNN)– Some changes are coming to American Airlines.

According to USA Today, the company is getting rid of free checked baggage on all basic economy tickets.

That means there will now be a $75 fee for the first checked bag on trans-oceanic flights.

American says this simplifies its offerings by having the same features for basic economy on both domestic and international flights.
