Judge sentences teen accused of running over Richland County deputy to 10 years in prison

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A teenager charged with hitting a Richland County Deputy with a stolen vehicle last year pleaded guilty in a Richland County Courthouse this morning.

Jamon Cheatham is charged as an adult with attempted murder and other charges.

was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Accused of running over a Richland County deputy.

In 2022 Deputy Sarah Merriman and another deputy found Cheatham in a stolen vehicle at a business on Two Notch Road.

When deputies say he revered and hit Merriman and later hit a patrol vehicle.

A judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
