SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter man is in jail after threatening and pointing a gun at his ex-girlfriend, says Sumter police.
Police say Allen Thomas Spikes is facing multiple charges stemming from ongoing confrontations with a former girlfriend.
Information gathered in the case found that Spikes approached his ex-girlfriend and pointed a gun at her and others while making threats in the parking lot of a Broad Street convenience store on Oct. 21, say police.
Then later that night a home on Miller Road where a woman and Spikes’ 1-year-old child were inside was shot at.
No one was reported injured.
Investigators served a search warrant at his Dicks Street home on Monday where a gun was found and arrested him.
Spikes is being held in the county detention center and is charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and violation of an order of protection.
Spikes was additionally charged with resisting arrest with assault and two counts of threatening the life of a public official.
His bond was denied on Tuesday and the department says the investigation is continuing.
