Human remains found along Cimmaron Road in Sumter Co.

SUMTER COUNTY S.C.(WOLO)–The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said six hunters entered the woods near Cimmaron Road on Sunday morning and discovered a body around 10:30 a.m.
“This is a tragic discovery, and our investigators are working closely with the office of the coroner and our colleagues at SLED and more information will be provided as it
is available. This investigation is ongoing, and we are asking the community to contact us with any information they may have,” Sheriff Anthony Dennis said.
Sumter County deputies are asking anyone with information that could help lead to the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death to call the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at 803-436-2000 or share a tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
The department said the person may remain anonymous, and possibly earn a reward.

SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Sumter County Coroner’s Office says a group of hunters found human remains yesterday.
Shortly after 10 a.m., investigators say the remains were found off Cimmaron Road by a group of hunters, who noticed a strong smell from a tarp located about 30-40 feet off
the roadway.
It was confirmed to be human remains that were wrapped in the tarp.
Authorities say they don’t know how long the remains have been there but is estimated between 1-2 weeks.
An autopsy will be performed Tuesday at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to get more information on the identity of the remains.
Sumter County deputies and SLED are also investigating.
