FOREST ACRES, S.C. (WOLO)– A man was arrested at a traffic stop in Sutton, Massachusetts will be brought back to the Midlands in connection with commercial burglary say investigators.

While collecting evidence, investigators collected a blood sample they believed was left by the person who did the break-ins.

Also, they believe the person may have been injured while trying to gain entry inside.

The sample was analyzed by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and someone was identified as the suspect.

“We appreciate the good police work on this case that started here in Forest Acres and Richland County and concluded in Massachusetts,” says FAPD Police Chief Don Robinson.

Robert Bowers is accused of break-ins at Tombo Grille and Village Idiot in 2022.

The Forest Acres Police Department is working with local agencies in Sutton, Massachusetts to have Bowers extradited to Forest Acres.

Investigators say once Bowers is back in the Midlands he will be charged with burglary in the second degree and petit larceny.

“We are committed to keeping Forest Acres safe for our business community and we hope this arrest, more than a year later, shows would-be offenders how persistent and dedicated our officers are to solving and closing cases,” concluded Chief Don Robinson.
