Driver dies in early morning wreck on US-178 in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG CO., S.C. (WOLO) – One driver is dead after a wreck early this morning.

Highway Patrol says it happened at US-178 at Morgan Drive at approximately 4:25 a.m.

According to investigators, the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet Impala was travelling east, went off the right side of the road and hit a culvert, then an embankment and overturned.

The driver died on scene.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the victim.

This incident remains under investigation.
