RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – One deputy is under arrest and facing charges of driving under the influence, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
On January 21, 2024 at approximately 1:00 a.m. South Carolina Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop at I77 and Bluff Rd. Investigators say contact was made with Richland County Deputy Sheriff Brandy Porter Browne and determined she was under the influence. Browne was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open container and pointing and presenting a firearm. She was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Browne has been suspended without pay pending termination. Investigators says she had been with the Sheriff’s Department since August of 2018. She was currently serving as a school resource officer.
“I’m extremely disappointed at the choices she made; but we are all responsible for our actions,” Sheriff Lott said. “I expect my deputies to hold themselves to a much higher standard, her actions are unacceptable!”
