Medical equipment companies to pay millions in false claims settlement
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A company that sold used hospital beds to organizations under the pretense that they were new will have to pay more than $2 million in settlements, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
Officials say companies under the “Durable Medial Equipment” umbrella will pay restitution to the Medicare, Tricare, Department of Veteran Affairs and Medicaid programs.
A spokesperson for the Justice Department says the claims are in response to allegations and there was no determination of liability.
