CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A body was pulled from the water near Geiger field in Sandy Run on Saturday, February 10, 2024, by law enforcement.
According to the Department of Natural Resources and the Calhoun County Sheriff Office the identity of the individual is not known at this time. Investigators say the body appeared to have been caught on a low branch during a period of recent high water levels.
It is believed to have possibly been a homeless male that had washed down the river from another location. The origin from which the individual came from is mere speculation at this point, according to officials. Investigators say the information regarding this incident was provided by witnesses from the local area.
