RCSD arrest man accused of barricading himself in home after domestic incident

Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department was called to a home in the 84- hundred block of Old Percival Road around 10:30 Wednesday morning.  According to deputies, they responded to the home for investigate a report of domestic violence with a weapon.

Deputies say they met the victim down the street from the home to get more detailed information about the suspect identified as 29 year old Rickey McCray. According to authorities, the victim told authorities the two were involved in a verbal argument that turned violent after they claim McCray started to become physical with the man before pulling a gun on him. Deputies say McCray is also accused of pulling that same gun on two other people who were inside the home at the time of the incident before forcing them to leave.
When deputies went to the home they say McCray refused to come outside and held police at bay. Authorities say the standoff lasted for several hours after bringing in negotiators, Richland County’s SRT, which ended up using gas in an effort to get McCray to come out of the home without using lethal force.
Deputies say McCray is charged with Assault/Domestic Violence charges, Kidnapping and Weapon Violations. He was taken to an area hospital, and then taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center once he is discharged.
