Driver dies after hitting a pole on US-15 in Sumter Co. this morning

SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – A driver is dead after an early morning collision today.

Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the Highway Patrol says it happened on US-15 near Manning Avenue at approximately 1:55 a.m.

According to investigators, the driver of a 2020 Honda Sedan travelled off the left side of the road and hit a traffic control device pole.

The victim died at the scene. The Sumter County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the driver.

Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
