COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The community came together for a special yard sale to help the family of a woman who remains were found after she was last seen 13 years ago.

A few weeks ago the Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced the remains were identified as Adriana Laster, a woman who was last seen in September 2011.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, Jeanette Murphy and her neighbors held a yard sale to help the family with the cost for the funeral and other expenses.

Murphy says she does not know the victim’s family but just wanted to show some kindness.

Event organizers say they raised more than a thousand dollars for Laster’s family.
