Local church to host free concert to benefit Ukraine
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — As the war in Ukraine rages on, the people living in the midst of chaos, and famine are fighting to survive. One area church is hoping to raise money to offer some form of support for those in need.
According to organizers with the Washington Street United Methodist Church (WSUMC), performers from String Time Duo with have direct ties with Ukraine, will hit the stage to offer those in attendance a chance to enjoy a night of music. At the same time, you’ll be able to help support their cause. Officials say that all of the money donated will be directly given to the the people of Ukraine through the non profit Ukrainian Patriot, and the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Both organizations provide help delivering aid to all civilians, especially the elderly and Ukrainian hospitals.
Organizers say the concert is free to attend, but strongly recommend you make a reservations due to limited seating for the event. Although there is no charge to get in, organizers are asking for a “love offering” or a donation during the event. The concert will take place Saturday March 16, at 7pm at the Christ Chapel Church located at 1401 Washington Street in downtown Columbia.
