SCHP investigates three car collision turned deadly

Sumter, SC (WOLO)— The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues investigating a three car collision in Sumter just outside of Dalzell they say has claimed the life of one person.

According to the SCHP, around just after 3:30 Tuesday afternoon a 2019 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading north along Highway 521 near Spencer Road. While a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2001 Lincoln Town Car were traveling South along the same road. Patrol officers say at some point all three cars collided killing the sole occupant of the town car.

Authorities say one other driver involved in the collision also suffered injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
