Governor McMaster proclaims March is Red Cross Month
COLUMBIA, S.C.(WOLO)– On Wednesday, March 13, Governor Henry McMaster proclaimed March as Red Cross Month in the Palmetto State.
Officials say just last year alone, the American Red Cross of South Carolina responded to more than 17 hundred local disasters including home fires, assisting 5 thousand people and provided more than $1 million in financial assistance.
The proclamation celebrates the more than 2 thousand local volunteers who help make these efforts possible.
March 27 is Red Cross Giving Day, they will be collecting donations online to help provide shelter, food, relief items, emotional support, and other assistance for people affected by disasters, big and small.
