Investigation complete into Richland Co. Deputy’s death
Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Richland Co. Sheriff Leon Lott says the Highway Patrol has completed its investigation into the collision that resulted in the death of Deputy Jacob Salrin.
Troopers concluded that Everett Knapper was at fault in the accident.
Investigators say on September 29, 2023, Deputy Salrin was driving west on Bluff Rd. and Knapper was driving east when he failed to yield the right of way while attempting to turn.
“It’s heartbreaking that the lack of attention by the driver of the truck has taken the life of one of my young deputies”, Sheriff Lott said. “Salrin had a promising career as a deputy and it was cut short.”
Deputy Salrin was 23 years old.
