Longtime Republican Political Advisor Richard Quinn Sr. dies

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A longtime republican political advisor who was caught in a scandal at the South Carolina State House died on Thursday.

Richard Quinn Sr., worked with several lawmakers including Governor Henry McMaster, Senator Lindsey Graham and Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Last year he pled guilty to lying to a grand jury.

Prosecutors said his political consulting firm was paid illegal fees from individual and corporate lobbyists and also paid lawmakers illegal salaries to influence legislation.

In a statement Governor McMaster praised Quinn, saying he was the finest man he’d ever known.

Quinn was 79 years old.
