Dollar Tree will increase maximum price of items in stores to $7

(CNN)– Dollar Tree is raising the maximum price on store items from $5 to $7.

Officials say the price increase is due to a wealthier customer base.

The retailers says its fastest-growing demographic is people who earn at least $125 thousand a year.

Three years ago the company raised the base price of items to a $1.25
