Prisma Health receives grant for violence intervention program

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– With a new grant, Prisma Health Richland will be able to better serve victims of violence.

Today the hospital announced a two million dollar grant from the Department of Justice for a hospital based violence intervention program.

Officials say the goals of the program will include reducing community violence and the rate of repeated violent criminal behaviors, addressing individual risk and protective factors for violence and utilizing and contributing research related to the program and its impact.

The program will run through September of 2026.
