SCDOT: Overnight closures scheduled on I-126 eastbound for bridge work

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct temporary closures of a section of I-126 eastbound, just east of the I-26/I-126 Interchange.

SCDOT says the closures will take place starting on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night.

On Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13, officials say to expect impacts to interstate traffic starting around 10 p.m.

On Sunday night, interstate traffic impacts will begin at around 6 p.m., say transportation officials.

Traffic on I-126 eastbound will be stopped in increments of about 20 minutes as crews work to securely place bridge beams over the interstate.

Waiting vehicles will be allowed to pass in the eastbound direction between construction work increments and longer closure increments may take place overnight.
