One juvenile shot and two bit by K9s after chase in Richland County

An investigation is underway after deputies were involved in a shooting that resulted in one juvenile shot and two others being bit by canines, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – An investigation is underway after deputies were involved in a shooting that resulted in one juvenile shot and two others being bit by canines, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

On Sunday, April 28th at around 5 p.m. K9 Deputies spotted a stolen vehicle out of Lexington Police Department at Penn Ridge Court and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and a short chase ensued, according to deputies. The suspects fled from the vehicle and the vehicle came to a stop as it collided with a stop sign near Oak Manor in the Carriage Oaks subdivision.

Three suspects ran from the vehicle. The driver was captured by K9 Jax and a passenger was captured by K9 Nevada; the third suspect jumped over a fence and when told to stop pulled out a handgun and was shot multiple times, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

All three suspect were taken to the hospital with injuries; two for dog bites and one for gunshot wounds. A pistol was recovered at the scene, and all three will face numerous charges.
