FAPD: Police investigating double apartment parking lot shooting

FOREST ACRES, S.C.(WOLO)– Forest Acres Police are investigating a double shooting that happened in the parking lot at an apartment complex, said officers.

Forest Acres Police Department dispatch received a call shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, May 28 from the Columbia Police Department about two men who arrived at MUSC with gunshot wounds.

CPD told Forest Acres Police the men said they were shot in their jurisdiction. One of the men later died at the hospital.

Both CPD and FAPD went to The Landings apartments and found evidence of a shooting in the parking lot of the complex, said police.

While processing the scene, neighbors told officers they heard a sound shortly after 7 p.m.

Investigators said evidence show neither of the men lived at the complex or in the Forest Acres city limits.

The Coroner identified the victim as Mekhi Courtney from downtown Columbia, said the police department.

The other man is from Lexington and is still in the hospital recovering. Police are continuing to investigate the double shooting.
