Study: Birth control less likely in abortion ban states
(CNN)– Women who live in states with the most restrictive abortion laws are also now less likely to have access to prescription birth control.
That’s according to a study published in the Jama Network Open Medical Journal.
Researchers looked at monthly prescription rates in a group of 12 states that had severe reproductive policies and compared them to a group of 14 states where abortion rights remained.
Research found while the use of birth control pills had already been trending down, the rate fell 4% more than expected in the most restrictive states.
