Dreher student charged with carrying a weapon on school property, say officers

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A 16-year-old has been charged after carrying a weapon on school property this morning, said Columbia PD.
According to officers, the 16-year-old took a kitchen knife to Dreher High School on Tuesday morning, August 13, 2024.
Administrators reported the incident to a Columbia Police Department SRO.
The child who was released to a parent will appear in family court at a later date.
He was charged with w/carrying a weapon on school property.
