SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter man was arrested after a traffic stop led to drugs being found in his vehicle, said deputies.

Rashard Donte Choice is accused of having drugs in his vehicle after deputies pulled him over for allegedly driving more than 20 mph over the speed limit on Wednesday evening, Aug. 21.

Investigators said Choice was stopped on Boulevard Road.

A small bag of marijuana was seen in plain view when a deputy approached his car, according to the sheriff’s office.

Also, the deputy found a bag containing suspected cocaine, and a loaded handgun.

Choice’s criminal history revealed that he had a prior cocaine trafficking conviction and that he was unable to possess a firearm.

He was arrested for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Choice was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and was given a $6,270 bond.
