SC Transport Officer dies in the line of duty

COLUMBIA, S.C.(WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is also mourning the loss of one of their own.

Officials say State Transport Police Officer Mark Reynolds died on Wednesday evening, Sept. 4, after a medical emergency during training earlier that day.

Reynolds joined the State Transport Police in 2022, after previously serving as a firefighter for more than a decade and working as a professional truck driver.

According to the department, Reynolds is the first State Transport Police Office to die in the line of duty since the division was created in 1993.

He was 43-years-old.
