Two dead after shooting in West Columbia

WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is releasing the identity of two people who were shot in the 900 block of Center Street in the West Columbia area of Lexington County shortly after 3:30 A.M. on September 15, 2024.

Coroner Fisher states that Kashaan Damon Sims, 17, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Alvin Davonte McDaniel Jr., 29, of Winnsboro, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body.

A third victim was evaluated at an area hospital for a gunshot wound but was later released.

The West Columbia Police Department, State Law Enforcement Division CSI, and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate this incident.
