SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies have arrested a teen for an attempted break-in, said deputies.

Deputies said on Tuesday, Sept. 24, a resident called about someone trying to break into their home located near Manning Road and Pack Road.

Deputies say the teen was attempting to kick in the door, but ran from the scene at the sound of the home’s security alarm.

Using security camera video, deputies were able to locate the teen, who was taken to the SC Dept. of Juvenile Justice.

The teen was charged with burglary (Second Degree).

Sheriff Anthony Dennis commented, “We have too many crimes being committed by juveniles who give no thought to the consequences of their actions. This juvenile should have been in school at that time. Parents should be held more accountable for their children. Our figures indicate 70% of car break ins are committed by juveniles.”
