Malloy concedes district 29 race day before scheduled protest

Columbia, SC (WOLO) —  Former Democratic State Senator Gerald Malloy is giving up the fight.

The South Carolina Republican Party Chair, Drew McKissick says the 22 year incumbent who was set to protest his loss of the District 29 seat before the State Board of Canvassers tomorrow has now conceded. Officials previously announced that the protest would be heard on December 3, 2024. According to a Public Information Officer with South Carolina GOP, that protest has now been cancelled.

The Democrat filed the protest last month after a mandatory recount of the race results against his opponent Republican J.D. Chaplin was too close to call.
The recount showed malloy lost by 87 votes.
