Shandon United Methodist Church to hold its 4th Annual “Huge Clothing & Book Sale”
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Shandon United Methodist Church on Devine Street will be holding its 4th annual “Huge Clothing & Book Sale” this Friday, March 14th and Saturday, March 15th.
Organizers and volunteers say if you want to grab the best items…
“Come early! Shop all day,” says volunteer Martha Herring. “Friday morning there’s usually a line all the way around the building and out to the road. Saturday will be a little slower because most people know we open on Friday so they want to come and get the best stuff, but there’s so much it’s all good and there’s plenty for everybody,” says co-chair of the event, Bobbie Moore.
The large range of items available for purchase have been donated by church and community members –just over the last two days!
And event organizers say all proceeds go to local charities.
“Every penny goes to charity. What we have leftover we donate. To some of the community charities. The people who come and shop a lot of times couldn’t afford the stuff they’re getting, our prices are extremely cheap, so it’s a win-win for everybody,” says Moore.
Men, women, and children’s clothing, along with shoes, books, jewelry, and other accessories are all up for grabs.
“You get lots of good clothes, wonderful clothes for next to nothing. The books, hardbacks are a dollar a piece. Paperbacks are .50 cents a piece,” says Herring.
They remind everyone that the “Huge Clothing & Book Sale” is a cash-only event and runs from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Donations of gently used clothing, accessories, shoes, and books (no stains, rips, or tears) can be dropped off at the church on Tuesday, March 11th and Wednesday, March 12th from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The church will also have its annual garage sale in August.
