S.C. lawmaker proposes bill increasing penalties for those who break wildfire laws
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — One state lawmaker introduced a bill that would increase penalties for people who break laws related to wildfires.
Carolina Forest Representative Tim McGinnis proposed bill H4265 last Thursday.
McGinnis says it would amend penalties for people who violate laws that relate to the regulation of fires on certain land.
For a first offense, the bill proposes that penalties include a fine ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 dollars, imprisonment for up to one year, or both.
